Government is not hostile to Malaysia- Kufuor

Accra, Feb.6, GNA- President John Agyekum Kufuor on Friday said government was not hostile to Malaysia and that business relations between institutions and organisations from the two countries should be made in fairness and equity.

"Let us look at the relationship between us for our mutual benefit and any company pitched against any nation is not ideal for development", he said.

President Kufuor made the observation when a five-member delegation from TV3 Network Limited with its headquarters in Malaysia paid a courtesy call on him at the Castle, Osu.

TV3, Ghana, is a joint venture between the government and the Malaysian company.

He said the media played an important role in the peace, stability and development of any country and a television station to be operated by non-nationals in any country should operate in a manner to promote peace and stability.

"A company to have such a privilege should be loyal, supportive and be sensitive in the area where it operates", he added.

President Kufuor said television stations were critical for development and no government would allow that sector to be unduly used in a manner that would not assist in the socio-economic development of the nation. Mr Musni Mohamamad, a Director of the Company who led the delegation said they were attending the Board of Directors meeting in Accra and decided to call on President Kufuor.
