Transport Minister Fifi Fiavi Kwetey has revealed that government will soon construct airfields in the ten regions of Ghana to aid healthcare delivery.

He said construction of aerodromes had become necessary to ensure that medical supplies such as vaccines, medication, and others can be transported where they are needed to meet emergency health needs.

Mr Kwetey revealed this at the Annual General Conference of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Accra.

The event was held under the theme: ‘Managing Critical Logistics for the Saving of Lives – The Case of Health Logistics’ on May 1, 2016.

But the president of the Institute, Rev Douglas Mensah, called for more collaboration between government and the institute.

He said the Ministry of Transport and other agencies of government stand to benefit from the institute’s advice and research work which will lead to, among others, addressing challenges faced by several health institutions across the country.
