According to the story, Professor Y.S Boafo, a national council member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has cautioned the newly- elected party executives for the Abura-Asebu-Kwamakese constituency inthe Central region to be wary of the NDC strategies of giving out gifts to their political opponents in return for their support. Speaking after a recently held elections conducted by the District Electoral Commission at Abura Dunkwa, Prof Boafo aksed the newly-elected executives to let the Afigya-Sekyere elections experience be a guide. Prof D.K. Fobih, the regional chairman of the party advised the elected executive to work above board and put up the necessary structures that would give the party victory in the year 2000. He said the 'political barometre of the year 2000 points at NPP and every effort should be made foe the party to clinch victory in the presidentual and parliamentayr elections.' In the elections, Mr Ben amos Yemoh, one-time PNDC District Secretary for Assin was made the Constitneuncy Chairman. In another election held in the Effutu Constituency in the Central region, Mr S.K. Rockson, a businessman polled 27 votes against four to be elected Chairman, the Chronicle said.
