Ghanaian Royalty Visits US School

Children at a North Philadelphia elementary school have been treated to a royal visit from the queen of the African nation of Ghana's capital city.

The kids at Ferguson Elementary put on a performance for Queen Naa Dedei Omadru III, of the capital city of Ghana Accra in the Republic of Ghana.

Cultural rules usually don't allow the queen to speak in public, but she bent them a little -- and King Nii Kwate Quartey translated:

"Now, she says that all the kings and queens of Ghana are all happy that she's here. And they also send their message to all of you -- not to get involved with anything bad, like stealing or drugs or anything. They want you all to study hard -- because we are all one people."

The kids' questions for the queen ranged from, "How old are you?" (she's 68) to "How did you feel about September 11th?" The queen said she prayed for America.
