Ghana's economy needs re-engineering - Ayariga

Presidential candidate of the All People's Congress (APC), Dr. Hassan Ayariga has stated that Ghana is currently at the cross-roads and it will take his party to save this country with his all inclusive form of governance.

Speaking at the 1st National Delegates Congress at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), the founder and leader who doubles as Chairman of APC said, ''Ghana is at the cross-roads, despondency has become the order of the day, all hope is lost, people have given up, hands are raised in the skies in despair, and all seem lost. Even every loyal members of our society are shaken by the unfortunate turn of events.''

He added, ''the abject desolation and dissipation of the very fabric of our foundations through unbridled corruption over the years through this very moment, neither is there any salvation in the existing political parties, who are only reeling in old, impracticable , un-achievable and non-relevant ideologies.''

Dr. Hassan Ayariga who was delivering his acceptance speech, after he was declared as presidential candidate, by unanimous decision said, Ghana will be in a better place with the all inclusive governance proposed by his APC, hence Ghanaians should give him the mandate.

Ghanaians he said, are yearning for a golden age of economic transformation, better living conditions, a dream of safe and more secured environment and an environment where entrepreneurs and businesses will thrive.

But we have failed to give to Ghanaians what they yearn for all because we have spent, ''...our time diagnosing and addressing the symptoms of our disease instead of tackling them from the roots,'' he underscored.

Successive governments he explained, have tried tirelessly at managing and improving the economic conditions, through the introduction of policy interventions but all to no avail.

''The farthest we have gone seems to be at a standstill, no we have actually retrogressed, comparing our developments vis-avis our human other resources available to us. Thankfully the solution is the APC.''

According to him, ''there is the need for total re-engineering and a complete overhaul of our geo-politics and economic fundamentals. We need to go back to the basics, the very very fundamentals, even if it seems moderate or trivial. We need to take a second look at our laws. ''

He called for the review of our laws relating to the royalties we get from our natural resources managed by foreign companies.

Dr. Hassan Ayariga called for the review of existing contracts between Ghana and foreigners, whose present status are inimical to our economic benefit.

Empowerment of state institutions he opined, is non negotiable and further stated, the APC will enforce the laws of Ghana to ensure that people act responsibly.

''Why don't we intensify our efforts to re-engineering our factories and industries and manage them ourselves, instead of selling our birth rights? As a people, we need a total renewal and transformation of our minds and attitudes. We have all that it takes to be successful, we are able, we can make it.''

Dr. Hassan Ayariga assured Ghanaians that, together with his selfless team, will not disappoint Ghanaians when elected into office.
