Ghana football has no future – Yakubu Moro

According to the owner and bank-roller of division one club, Berekum Arsenal the future of Ghana football is in tatters and sees no glimpse of hope for the sport.

The outspoken football administrator has criticised the current Ghana football Association (GFA) of using nepotism and favouritism to govern the game of football and it is rather the clubs, football fans and the sport that is suffering.

The GFA has struggled to find sponsorship for the league and marketing it to the corporate world has also been a huge challenge but the association has been quick to defend those that criticize it though admitting there is challenge, refuse to accept the blame for the decline of football.

The ethics committee of the GFA after months of deliberation on the bribery allegations involving newly promoted premier league side, Techiman city and division one club, Wa Africa united finally ruled on the matter.
According to the chairman who sat on the case, Felix Anyinsan, evidence provided proved Techiman city (giver) and Wa Africa United (recipient) were both guilty and as such ruled they both be demoted to division 2.

Techiman City since then has been vocal refuting the claims and denying the allegations and has filed a stay of execution case with the disciplinary committee.

This then means Techiman City will play in the 2015/16 Ghana premier league whilst the case is reviewed and it is this that has peeved Alhaji Moro who believes the “friends and cronies” at the FA want to favour Techiman City and ensure they play in the league.

He said, “The manner in which the Techiman City-Wa Africa united case has gone for months and the end is not nigh. The leaders of football here in Ghana are poorly managing the game and proving they are incompetent. A simple case involving lower division sides can’t be settled what then can they do when it involves the two biggest teams in Ghana – Hearts and Kotoko.”

Techiman City’s first ever game in the premier league will be at home to Berekum Chelsea when the league commences on February 20.
