Ghana FA vice president George Afriyie says reports linking Black Stars coach Avram Grant to several European clubs show that the country made a good choice to appoint him.

Grant, 60, has been in the news as a possible replacement for Garry Monk, who was fired by English Premier League side Swansea City in November.

“The reports linking him to various clubs mean he is a good coach and it’s a plus for us,” Afriyie told Starr FM.

“We should be happy that our coach is being considered by many clubs. For us, it means that the decision taken by the FA to appoint Avram Grant is in the right direction,” he added.

Grant was also reported to have been shortlisted by Chelsea, who recently parted ways with Jose Mourinho over poor run of results.

Grant signed a two-year deal with Ghana in December 2014 and guided the Black Stars to finish second to Cote d'Ivoire at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in February.

He has qualified the Black Stars for the final phase of the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifications after defeating Comoros 2-0 on aggregate.
