A whistleblower and tax consultant has accused the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) of blowing GH¢ 7.2 million on foreign trips and per diems in 2014.

Kudzo Akpabey has also predicted that the amount will double this year as the GRA has increased its spending.

Speaking to Starr News, Mr. Akpabey said the president must be firm and demand accountability to address the huge revenue leakages in the system.

“This people (GRA staff) are playing a game with this country, they are choking this country,” Mr. Akpabey said.

He added: “In America where I studied taxation and worked…if they catch you on tax [evasion] and murder you will be in trouble but…these ministers are at the castle playing games with this nation while the President [sits] there".
