An Accra Fast Track High Court will today, Tuesday July 21, 2015, sit on a libel case filed by Franklin Cudjoe of IMANI Ghana against a political journalist, blogger and NDC activist, Dela Coffie.

The joint suit against the popular blogger which also includes Managing Editor of the Daily Post newspaper Michael Dokosi was filed after Dela Coffie queried on his Facebook page an alleged false profile information found on the résumé of the think tank owner.

The Daily Post newspaper later published the content of the blogged queries.

The alleged false profile information on his résumé included the claim that Franklin Cudjoe is a Ph.D. student of a foreign university – a claim that he may have to substantiate in court.

In his writ, Franklin Cudjoe is seeking GH¢ 10 million worth of damages from Dela Coffie as the price for what he calls his ‘damaged reputation’.

The complainant is also seeking GH¢ 1 million as damages against second defendant Michael Dokosi for the publication of the said queries.

Dela Coffie is represented by the legal firm, Atuguba & Associates.

Lead counsel for Dela Coffie, Justice Sai indicated he will be moving an application to strike out the defamation suit against his client, the first defendant for lack of merit.
