Kumbungu, (N/R), Jan. 21, GNA- Foreign Minister Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni on Saturday won a keenly contested National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries to represent the Kumbungu Constituency for the 2012 general elections.

He polled 161 votes to beat his closest rival, the incumbent Member of Parliament, Alhaji Imoro Yakubu Kakpagu, who got 133 votes, while a third candidate in the person of Abdulai Zakaria, obtained three votes.

In a reconciliatory speech after the elections, the Foreign Minister urged the people to put the past behind them and forge together to ensure the total victory of the NDC in the 2012 elections.
