Food shortage threatens Bole refugee camp

Food to feed refuges at a camp at Bole in the Northern Region is running out. This follows the influx of refugees to the camp as a result of renewed fighting between rebels and government forces in North-Eastern Cote d’Ivoire near Bole. The Northern Region office of the National Disaster Management Organisation and the Bole District Assembly have so far spent ?30 million on feeding refugees fleeing the war in Ivory Coast.

The Bole District Chief Executive, Akati Mahama has appealed to the UNHCR, UNICEF and World Food Pogramme to support the refugees. The refugees comprises citizens of Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger who are all fleeing the war.
