First lady predicts 60 percent win for NDC in prez election

The First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings has predicted a 60 per cent win in the presidential polls for the NDC Candidate, Professor John Atta Mills.

"The NDC train is on course to victory. It is only the driver who has been changed", she added, she told the chiefs and people of Offinso-Afrancho in the Offinso district. Nana Konadu, President of the 31st December Women's Movement was in the area as part of her two-day tour of Ashanti.

She said there has been tremendous improvement in all sectors of the economy and with this track record, the people will vote massively for the NDC to continue with the good work.

Mr Samuel Nuamah-Donkor, Ashanti Regional Minister said over 2000 teachers' bungalows have been put up throughout the country, and awards for teachers instituted as part of government's effort to improve the lot of teachers and education in general. He said 10,000 schools would be built between 2001 and 2005 on the average of 2,000 a year.

The Regional Minister said government has instituted a 16 billion-cedi Health Insurance Scheme, which has been operating on pilot basis in Koforidua for the past three years.
