Engineers working on the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah have returned the facility to full operations after a false fire alarm shut down the vessel Tuesday evening.

A fire alarm completely shut down the facility cutting gas supply to Aboadze.

The development resulted in a shortfall in power generation causing long hours of outages across the country.

The incident compelled managers of the facility to evacuate all the workers from the floating vessel.

Starr News understands that the fire alarm, however, turned out to be a false one.

One of the workers on the FPSO in an interview with Starr News on condition of anonymity said full operations have resumed on the facility.

“We had a total shutdown as a result of the activation of fire detectors even though it was a false alarm we had a total shutdown.”
