Evangelist Slams Miss Ghana Pageant

Evangelist Osei Asibey has called for the abolitioin of the "Miss Ghana Pageant" and other indecent programmes on national TV because such programmes promote immorality.

Evangelist Osei of Kumasi blamed the state-owned media, especially GTV, for encouraging child delinquency in the country.

He suggested a replacement of such programmes with educative ones to help mould the lives of children.

In an open-air crusade last Friday in Kumasi, the minister said the state-owned TV is the worst agent of child delinquency because of the numerous telecasts.

He said telecasting of "Miss Ghana" by which young ladies expose almost their nakedness to the viewing public, including children,is a contributory factor.

The evangelist also cited nude films, love stories which contain foreplay which are watched by children, who in turn copy, learn and act them resulting in rape and other abuses.
