Eleven recruits sacked for impersonation

Accra, Dec 20, GNA - Eleven new recruits who have successfully undergone the basic Infantry-Training Course Two at the Army Recruit Training School have been released and detained at the Military Police Station for impersonation and forgery.

The 11 men were part of about 420 people admitted into the Army Recruit Training School of the Ghana Armed Forces six months ago, Lt.-Col. Nicholas Kporku, Commanding Officer of the Training School disclosed this to the newsmen in Accra on Thursday. Lt.-Col. Nicholas Kporku said after their recruitment, the Department of Defence Intelligence of the Ghana Armed Force (DDI) embarked on investigations to find out if the recruit had presented genuine certificates. He asked parents and guardians to advise their wards to desist from such practices. He assured Ghanaians that the people released from the training school would not be a threat to the society, adding, "even senior men who have been in the job for 10 years and had been released posed no threat."
