Easter - Cape Coast

Christians in the Cape Coast Metropolis on Sunday held Church services, conventions and crusades to mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Churches were filled to capacity with most of the congregation dressed in white attire and danced to gospel songs to express their joy for Christ's victory over death.

At the Cape Coast branch of the Victory Bible Church, Head Pastor, Reverend Richard Ampadu-Duku delivering the sermon on the theme "Turning Pain into Gain", said that every human being encountered pain in the course of life's journey's but that reminds "us that we are only human, whose survival depends on the grace of God". He said pain and challenges could make one victims of life if the wrong attitude was adopted. Rev. Ampadu-Duku said that all human beings must accept that life would not always be fair to them but with hope in Christ, they could sail through challenges and succeed with a lot of experiences to share with others. He observed that there was no special person in the sight of God, whom he described as "unpredictable" and called on mankind to continue to have faith in God.

The Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Kwesi Ackah Baidoo, also delivering the sermon, told Christians that no matte their success, they should acknowledge that they were only human and humble themselves.

In a message on the theme "Jesus the Christ is risen", to round off the Church's three-day Easter convention at the Adisadel basic schools' park, Apostle Baidoo exhorted Ghanaians that the storm of life could only be calmed by Jesus Christ who died and resurrected to save mankind.

He said that the death and resurrection of Jesus was supported by the scriptures and urged Christians to lead good lifestyles and always defend their faith. He said women features prominently in the resurrection story and called on Christian women to play significant role in the propagation of the gospel.

Preaching the sermon at the AME Zion Church, Rev. Wilberforce Wireko said peace was essential for development and urged Ghanaians to reconcile with each other to promote peace and progress. He said the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, signified unity and reconciliation and not for merrymaking and called on Christians to pray ceaselessly for the progress of the nation.
