EDS & Prairie View University Advance Engineering Education in Ghana

31 Oct 2003, PLANO, Texas - EDS PLM Solutions and Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) today announced they have collaborated to provide product lifecycle management (PLM) technology and training to enhance engineering education at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana. KNUST is the premier technical institution in Ghana, training engineers for Western Africa and beyond.

EDS PLM Solutions has provided KNUST with an academic grant of Solid Edge mechanical design software, with a commercial value of $500,000. To help the university accelerate the benefits of incorporating Solid Edge in its current programs, Dr. James O. Morgan and Dr. Paul O. Biney of Prairie View A&M University (PVA&MU) conducted a one-week workshop on the “Application of Modern Design Modeling using Solid Edge” for the faculty of KNUST’s School of Engineering.

Dr. Brew-Hammond, KNUST Department Head - Mechanical Engineering, said, “The faculty and teaching assistants were highly impressed with the ease of use and the advanced modeling features of Solid Edge. This software has been adopted as the primary Solid Modeler for the engineering programs at the University. We are grateful to EDS and Prairie View A&M for their tremendous support of our region and students.”
