Dreams FC vows to face Tema Youth at CAS

Dreams FC have vowed to meet Tema Youth hat the Court for Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Switzerland as they fight over promotion to the Ghana Premier League.

The Tema-based side slapped in their complaint to the Swiss-based body on Tuesday seeking to overturn the decision by the judicial bodies of the Ghana FA (GFA) over the eligibility of Cudjoe Mensah.

Mensah was accused of registering for two clubs in two different tiers of the leagues in the country under different names - Daniel Gozar and Cudjoe Mensah.

He was also found to have used different date of births in the 2013-2014 football season contrary to Article 26(3)(b) and 35(12) of the GFA General Regulations.

Mensah played for Dreams FC, helping them to qualify for the top-flight which raised the eyebrows of Tema Youth who stand to benefit if the latter are found guilty of fielding an ineligible player.

The Disciplinary Committee (DC) slapped the player with a one-year ban but refused to dock Dreams FC points on the grounds that they were deceived by the player. The decision to dock Dreams points would have denied them promotion.

Despite the decision by the DC, Tema Youth were not satisfied and went to the Review Panel to have the decision re-examined yet again they were not successful, prompting the Tema Youth bankroller Winfred Osei Palmer to file his case with CAS seeking to turn the decision in their favour.

But Dreams FC insist they are not disturbed by the Tema Youth decision to go to the Switzerland-based body, insisting they are the rightful winners to play in the top-flight

"I am a football man. The case came to a dead end after the review committee's ruling. Amidaus Professionals issue is totally different from what Tema Youth filed and this distinction must be very clear," Dream FC chairman Kurt Okraku told Joy FM.

"Dreams FC played in a 30 week league competition and led the table for 29 weeks: We are the undisputed champions of the zone, we are the strongest team of the zone, no question about the zone, we are the best club of the zone.

"This must be very clear and therefore we're happy that we are in the Premier League and we are going to be very, very competitive in the league."

A decision in favour of Tema Youth will open the chance for them to play in the Ghana top-flight next season while Dream FC are keen on a decision in their favour.
