Don't rush to the press to misrepresent the KMA - MCE

Kumasi, March 19, GNA - The Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mr Samuel Sarpong, has appealed to members of the assembly not to rush to the media to complain about issues they did not have the full facts and figures. He reminded them of the oath of secrecy they had sworn, and said this was meant to protect the image of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA). Mr Sarpong was addressing an ordinary general meeting of the assembly in Kumasi on Thursday. He said they should all accept to assist to get things right for the assembly and work tirelessly to achieve set targets in spite of the many challenges and constraints. The MCE commended the members for the team work and said this had helped the assembly to stay on course to achieve its mission of raising the living conditions of people.

Mr Sarpong said the year 2010 was a promising one and advised the Assembly members to work hard to support the KMA in the provision of essential services and the creation of an enabling environment to promote and sustain development. He spoke of the assembly's determination to beef up security through the establishment of police posts in all the 10 sub-metropolitan councils. Corporate bodies, he said, would be invited to adopt these posts as their contribution to the promotion of security. "A corporate body has already opted to adopt a police post at Ahodwo and is asking for land for its construction", he added. Mr Sarpong said the Assembly would continue to decongest the city and ensure an end to encroachment on school lands. He told the meeting that the recent demolition of 137 illegal buildings on the Osei Kyeretwie Senior High lands signaled the beginning of support the Assembly would give to schools whose lands had been seized by developers. 19 March 10
