Don't dump your children on school authorities.

Tanoso (Ash), Sept. 21, GNA - Mr. T.S. Nkansah, an Assistant Director of Education at the Kumasi Metro Education Office has decried the tendency of some parents who just dump their children on school authorities and pursue their economic ventures.

He said this phenomenon did not augur well for the appropriate nurturing of the children and called for a halt to the practice. Speaking at the second graduation ceremony of the John William Montessori school at Tanoso near Kumasi at the weekend, Mr Nkansah asked for closer co-operation between parents and school authorities to ensure the proper training of children.

He also urged chiefs in the various communities to support schools in their areas since well managed and good schools were not only a credit to them but in the interest of the communities in general. Mrs Nana Fosu Randall, the Proprietress of the school, who gave a brief history of the school, said it was started with only 24 pupils but now had about 640 students.

She said she built the school as her contribution towards raising the standard of education in the country and the development of the area, adding, "I did not put up the school to be famous". The 32 graduands were presented with certificates.
