Don't Leave Dev. Programmes On Gov't Alone

The Deputy Volta Regional Regional Minister, Mr. Kofi Dzamesi, has stated that although government has the overall responsibility for the well-being of the citizenry, it is necessary and important that communities complement government's efforts in the provision of amenities.

According to him, since government alone is no longer capable of doing everything for every community, it behoves every community to identify and initiate its own projects in order to be assisted.

Dzamesi said this when he addressed the chiefs and people of the Some Traditional Area at a durbar to mark this year's Keta-Some-Tutu Za at Agbozume.

He said the NPP government is leaving no stone unturned in its effort to ensure a fair and equitable development for every part of the country.

He assured the people of government's determination and commitment to continue and complete all on-going projects including the Keta Sea Defence Project.

He said the Accra-Aflao road which is currently in a bad shape is among a list of priority roads earmarked for reconstruction next year.

The Deputy Regional Minister indicated that destruction of life and property through bush fires is of security concern to government.

The courts, he said, have been ordered to deal ruthlessly with bush fire offenders.

He, therefore, advised the people to prevent bush fires.

The Kakorsor of Some, Torgbui Hor II, appealed to the government to rehabilitate the uncompleted portion of the Blekusu-Denu road and also improve upon infrastructure in schools in the area, especially the Some Secondary School at Agbozume.

He further called on President Kufuor to intervene to resolve the problems militating against the opening of a clinic built to contain the medical problems of the people of Agbozume and Klikor.

The MP for Ketu South, Lt. Col. Charles Kofi Agbenaza (rtd), on his part, asked the people to unite in order to achieve their development goals.

He said attempts to unite and reconcile the nation will be an illusion if citizens continue to fan fires of division and misunderstanding.

A number of citizens of the area including the Special Aide to the President, Mr. Tommy Amematekpor, were honoured for their dedicated service to Some.
