Doctors deliberately slaughtering patients – Austin Gamey

One may think persons who opt to join the medical profession are members of a nobility group; but a renowned labour expert has degraded that perception.

Labour consultant, Austin Gamey, has concluded that members of the Ghana Medical Association [GMA] are not “gentle” as initially thought.

Speaking on NEAT FM, Mr. Gamey maintained that, “no gentle person will go on strike”.

According to him, government must with immediate effect sack the striking doctors for ‘deliberately slaughtering patients’ by their strike action.

Doctors last Friday extended their nationwide strike for two more weeks to press home their demands for better conditions of service, however, government has described their strike as illegal.

But Mr. Austin Gamey told host Kwasi Aboagye that, the striking doctors are taking the wrong approach in negotiating with government: “we don’t negotiate under strike. It is not acceptable in any civil community”

“They [striking doctors] should go back to work and talk to government. No talk…no cash,” he added

The Labour consultant, who claims the striking doctors are disgracing the nation, further called on government to ignore them since they are not humble in the negotiation process.
