District Assemblies Urged To Set Aside Funds For Health Programme

(Ash), - Mr Samuel Nuamah-Donkor, Deputy Minister of Health, has asked District Assemblies to ensure that they set aside part of their common fund allocation to support health care delivery services. He said the assemblies should not see themselves as different from the Ministry of Health and that they should help medical personnel to work under congenial conditions. Mr Nuamah-Donkor made the call when he inspected facilities at the Tontokrom Buruli Ulcer Dressing Centre, Manso-Adubea Health Centre and the Saint Martin's Hospital at Agroyesum in the Amansie West District yesterday with Dr Arthur MacGregor Morris, a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon from Scotland and Dr Pius Agbenorku, Head of the Plastic Surgery Unit, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). The Deputy Minister spoke of the need for all to be practical about problems facing the health delivery services. Mr Nuamah-Donkor praised the health workers at the Agroyesum Saint Martin's Hospital for their sense of commitment, and dedication. He said his ministry would from this year present medical awards to its hardworking staff at the national, regional and district levels. Among those present at the inspection was Dr George Kwadwo Amofa, Ashanti Regional Director of Health Services.
