The Acting Director General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority has met staff of the port of Takoradi at a durbar to interact with them and address some of their concerns.

The durbar was attended massively by staff and management of the Port of Takoradi.

Addressing the gathering, Paul Ansah promised to revive the transit business in Takoradi which has slowed down.

“Truck owners and truck drivers were in good business, fuel sellers, vulgarizers, chop bar owners and operators were in good business, today the transit has slowed down if any. I want to assure you that I have started work with your marketing outfit and that within one year you will see the transit trucks here again,” he said to loud cheers from the staff.

Paul Ansah assured the staff of a better working condition in order for them to put in their best in the discharge of their duties.

“Management will have to look at the salary structure in such a way that if you don’t have to do over time your take home is comfortable to lead you home,” he said.

Paul Ansah added that a descent accommodation would be built for the workers. He said the Port authority will team up with the Ghana Export Promotion Authority, EXIM bank to ensure that the imbalance between the export and import is resolved.

Paul Ansah also promised to run a transparent and an open administration and make the GPHA the best state organisation.

The staff of the port of Takoradi promised to give him their maximum support.
