The Founder and President of the Nobel International Business School (NiBS) has called on government to develop a National Innovation Strategy to achieve the ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’ agenda.

According to Professor Atuahene-Gima, the strategy will draw in innovation as part of efforts to educate the population in order to solve problems and improve the conditions of individuals.

“The strategy should be able to use innovation as a basis of dialogue among companies, individuals and the society to solve existing problems and improve living conditions,”

“Some key components the strategy should entail, is to build an innovation capacity of people, create value out of its own natural resources, support key sectors of the economy as well as recognizing and celebrating people in innovation,” he explained.

Professor Atuahene-Gima said this in an interview with GhanaWeb on November 22 at the NiBs Ghana Innovation Summit in Accra.

Prof. Atuahene-Gima also advocated for the strategy to be developed around the sectors where the country tends to have a comparative advantage such as Agriculture, Mining amongst others.

“It should become an actional thing not just a mere slogan of ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’,” he concluded.
