Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong has cautioned major political parties; NDC and NPP against the culture of ‘arrogance of power’ after they are elected into power.

General Secretary of the Ghana Christian Council and Chairperson of the Asante Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, made this statement on GTV’s Talking Point show last Sunday.

He asserted that “voters deserve better and any government in power must know that citizens [voters] only care about the quality of education, health, infrastructure, jobs among others; hence will be disgruntled if these are not forthcoming.”

He cautioned against politicians placing their comfort first, before their service to the citizens of the country.

In his submission, he condemned the vandalism of state institutions by some youth believed to be NPP supporters and urged government in power to whip them in line.

He said that, “it is true that governance attract a barrage of attacks and insults from the public, but was quick to add that, it is typical of democracy, and leaders must have a big heart to accommodate these hurtful comments.

“As a leader, if one cannot sacrifice some comfort and overlook some of these discomforts, then they must not accept to serve in the public sector. They should set up their own business, as personal comfort must not under any circumstance overshadow national values,” he averred.
