Deputy Minister Implicated In Murder Case

The national security agencies, investigating the attempted murder of the Chairman of the Krowor (Nungua) constituency branch of the NPP, Robert Bortei Bissinan, have zeroed in on the Deputy Minister of Roads and Transport and Member of Parliament for Krowor (Nungua), Adjei Boye as the prime suspect.

This is because the vehicle used in committing the crime belongs to his outfit. Indeed, it is one of his duty vehicles as a deputy Minister, according to police sources.

Two weeks ago, Robert Bortei Bissinan was abducted from his residence by goons in military and police uniforms, bundled into a vehicle, and carried away to face death, but he survived the ordeal, after feigning death.

Two top guns of the NPP in Nungua, had their wives and children brutalized in the course of the operation.

Efforts by the MP to quickly tow the vehicle to a fitting mechanic in an attempt to dribble the security personnel failed, the Chronicle newspaper gathered.

The paper also learnt that there is a venomous rift in the NPP executive at Nungua, and the MP fears that there is an attempt to scuttle his chances in 2004.

Political watchers believe that the murder attempt could be an act of reprisal on the part of the MP who has allegedly always considered Bissinan a ringleader in the “plot” to unseat him. Several months ago, the MP dragged Mr Bissinan to the Police Headquarters over what he considered a threat on his life by the constituency chairman.
