Communications Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah has described the current Voters register as the best the country has ever had.
According to him, the opposition New Patriotic Party is pushing for a fresh register because of their own ulterior motives.
The main opposition New Patriotic Party and the Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVC) have been at the forefront of the call for a fresh register ahead of the 2016 elections.
They are seeking support from recognizable institutions and civil society groups to push home their demand. They contend that the current register flawed and unfit for next year’s elections.
But addressing an NDC rally IN Koforidua Saturday, the acting presidential spokesperson said the NPP has an agenda with the persistent demand for a new register.
“The 2012 register is the best Ghana has ever had and, therefore, there is no need to change it,” he stated.
Meanwhile, President John Mahama who also spoke at the rally denied claims by the NPP that he called for a fresh register for Togo when they were going to their elections.
