Cuban Doctors offer free treatment

A team of Cuban Doctors posted to the Koforidua Regional Hospital on Sunday, conducted free medical examination for members of the Living Faith Christian Ministry at Koforidua.

They examined 50 children and 56 adults. A total of 26 children were referred to the hospital.

Dr. Miguel Garcia, leader of the team, explained that the outreach formed part of the social service of the Cuban Medical Brigade in Ghana.

He said the exercise was embarked upon because they realised that many people could enjoy hospital facilities for various reasons.

It was to make it possible for such people to obtain medical care by conducting such outreach examinations in the churches and communities, he said.

Dr. Garcia said a similar exercise had been organised for members of the Methodist Church, adding that, the team would be visiting other Churches and communities in the municipality.

There are 20 Cuban Doctors in the Eastern Region and about 200 in the country all of whom were expected to offer similar services at where they are.

The Supervising Elder of the Living Faith Christian Ministry, Mr. Joseph Hamatekpor, expressed the appreciation of the members to the Cuban Doctors for bringing their services to the doorsteps of the people.
