Convert Tema Trade Fair Site Into Market - Tema Youth

The Tema East Young Elephants, a youth wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Tema Newtown, has commended President Kufuor for nominating Mr. Evans Ashong Narh, a mechanical engineer, for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

This was made known by Nii Armah Amarfio, secretary to the group at a press conference held at the NPP office at Tema Newtown last Tuesday. He stated that for the first time a native has been nominated to head the Tema East Municipal Assembly.

According to Amarfio, the nomination by President Kufuor shows how committed the President was in ensuring that only qualified persons are entrusted with sensitive positions to avoid the mistakes of the NDC government. He saw the youth were not happy about efforts of a few members who try to influence political choices through dubious and divisive means and cautioned that the youth would not be party to any chieftaincy issues, which has the tendency to create enmity among the people.

He appealed to the chief executive-designate to seriously eschew anything that would draw him into the already volatile chieftaincy disputes in the township. Mr. Amarfio also advised that the Tema International Trade Centre at Baatsonaa be turned into a central market so that people within the municipality could shop there.
