Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has been honoured with a Doctorate Award by the Alliance Creativity Community Project International (ACCP).

At a ceremony held at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Kumasi, he was honoured with the African Gold Award for his contributions towards humanity.

Chairman Wontumi has served as the NPP’s Ashanti Regional Chairman since 2014 and was an instrumental figure during the electioneering period as the party won power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The ACCP is a member of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

The awards scheme is designed to honour persons of African heritage who have made strides in their various fields.

A plaque was presented to him, with its inscription describing him as “as a selfless contributor to humanity through his entrepreneurial skills, charity and dedication to the general development of society.”

Speaking after receiving the award, Chairman Wontumi revelled in the moment, while dedicating the award to the late Adams Mahama, Saddick Adams and Michael Ofori Atta, who all served in various capacities for the NPP before passing on.
