Carpenter arraigned for threatening to kill brother

The Winneba District Magistrate Court, has remanded a 29- year- old carpenter in prison custody for assaulting and threatening to kill his brother at Sankro a community in Effutu Municipality.

Kow Edufo a native of Winneba pleaded guilty and would re-appear on May 27.
Prosecution Detective Police Inspector Peter Agbelie told the court presided over by Mr Alexander Oworae that, Mr Kofi Egyan a farmer is the complainant who lives with the accused at Sankro in Effutu Municipality.

The prosecution said the complainant due to his farming activities moved to settle at New Winneba in the Municipality and visits home occasionally.

According to Detective Inspector Agbelie, the complainant restrained his brother from sleeping in his room when he is away because he allegedly stole his money some time ago.

The prosecution said the accused became peeved to the order given him by the complainant.

Detective Inspector Agbelie said the complainant visited Winneba in the morning for the Aboakyer festival and in the course of the event, he decided to rest in his room.

He said at 12 noon Edufo forced the door opened and wielding a cutlass threatened to kill the complainant but Mr Egyan was able to disarm him.

One Madam Efua Botwe also a co-tenant and a witness in the case rushed to the scene and saw the accused person beating the complainant and so raised the alarm that attracted some people in the neighbourhood who came to his aid.

The complainant reported the matter to the police, and accused person was arrested and after investigation he was charged with the offence.
