CPP youth condemn Nduom's statement

THE Greater Accra Regional Youth Organiser of the Convention People?s Party (CPP), Mr George Lamptey, has called on the national leadership of the party to take a decisive action on the Minister of Economic Planning and Regional Co-peration, Dr Kwesi Nduom, for making utterances calculated to pit the party against the Kufuor administration at its meeting slated for Friday.

? We of the Greater Accra Regional Youth Wing of the CPP view with utmost concern the utterances by Dr Nduom which are intended to put the CPP and the Kufuor administration on a collision course and which, in the long run, will satisfy his whims and ego,? he said.

Mr Lamptey, who called at the offices of the Graphic in Accra yesterday, described as preposterous the statement made by Dr Nduom, to the effect that the CPP seeks to undermine the government by exploiting the Yendi crisis . According to the youth organiser, the ?CPP will not give Dr Nduom and his supporters an inch for them to unleash on the party their plans intended to cause confusion and fragmentation on its front?.

? After the so-called Parliamentary Action Group has been hounded and condemned by the Central Committee as bogus and devious, as well as being inconsistent with the letter and spirit of CPP?s constitution , Dr Nduom seeks to fragment the party by exploiting the Yendi crisis which led to the senseless and brutal murder of the Ya-Na, to his advantage,? Mr Lamptey said.

He said the leadership of the CPP is committed to the unity and cohesion of the country and will not, under any circumstances, exploit conflict situations to whip up sympathy for the party.

Mr Lamptey explained that the party is at the moment committed to reviving its structures and embarking on more educational programmes to encourage Nkrumaists who are members of other political parties to rejoin the CPP to fight and win the next elections.

He said it is the hope and prayer of the youth wing that Dr Nduom and his colleagues, who are waging an unholy agenda against the CPP, will declare now their intention to join the political party of their choice, since they have no place in the CPP which they seek to destroy.

? We the youth of the party will resist, with all our might , attempts by Dr Nduom and his allies to mortgage the interest of the party for a mess of pottage to forces whose ideology is the opposite of the CPP?s? Mr Lamptey said.
