CHRAJ did languorous investigation on Mahama’s Ford saga - Barrister Daniel

Barrister Obeng Daniel has described as a ‘languorous’ investigation conducted by the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) on Mahama’s ford saga.

The former Head of Intelligence Unit, University of Ghana, Legon-Student Representative Council (SRC) claimed CHRAJ did a shoddy work, hence the fake report.

The Minority in Parliament and others petitioned CHRAJ over the President John Dramani Mahama’s Ford Expedition gift received from Burkinabe contractor Djibril Kanazoe.

But yesterday, CHRAJ cleared the President, saying he did not engage in corruption and that there was no sign of conflict of interest as speculated by a section of the public.

According to CHRAJ’s report, the President after receiving the gift handed it over to the State.

Barrister Daniel in a statement said ‘My grandmother who does not know anything about this pocket controlled organ may think CHRAJ is a neutral organ, but I will never hold that belief once I know its composition. For me, I see it as just impertinence, so dishonest or deceitful on the part of the so called CHRAJ leadership to insult people with that so called investigative findings only to protect their positions and for promotions.’.

Mendaciously, they are here again with their usual mind blowing kiddie games on us with a fake report on Mahamah’s ford expedition saga. My grandmother who does not know anything about this pocket controlled organ may think CHRAJ is a neutral organ, but I will never hold that belief once I know its composition. Now, ARTICLE 70(1)A of the 1992 constitution reads The President in consultation with the council of state appoint– the Commissioner of Human Rights and Administrative Justice, and his/her deputies. As you can see, the President does the appointments of the leadership of this particular rented organ (CHRAJ) although people see it to be a neutral organ.

One would have thought, that perhaps, the leadership of this commission would set aside their egoisms in placement of professionalism since article 218(1)A,B,C etc gives them that legal rights as enshrined in the constitution to perform specific duties. Few months ago, Manasseh Azure in his professionalism reported on a Kangaroo contract that went on between President Mahama and one Burkinabe contractor in the person of Djibril Kanazoe. In the report, it was revealed, that the contractor gave a brand new Ford expedition worth of $100,000 after gaining a contract from Ghana. Explicitly, even class one student can make inference from article 284 of the 1992 constitution that talks about conflict of interest.

Parliament which is another corrupt venture, chose not to talk about it because they said CHRAJ is investigating into this frivolities/corrupt scandal which really transpired between the two aforementioned culprits.
Now, can the so called CHRAJ executives define what it conflict of interest and explain to me what is stipulated in article 284 of the 1992 constitution? Why can’t these kinds of organizations for once ensure professionalism? Okay, let us assume without admitting, that there is a policy governing the acceptance of gifts that the President violated. May I know the punishment associated with such an unlawful act as enshrined in the constitution? Where in the constitution can they point it out so we all read and know the next line of action.

Is it not so surprising for a President to be awarding a contract in exchange of a gift worth to such a quantum of amount, and be regarded as a violation of gift policy? For me, I see it as just impertinence, so dishonest or deceitful on the part of the so called CHRAJ leadership to insult people with that so called investigative findings only to protect their positions and for promotions.
