British volunteer donates to school

Mampong (Ash), Mr Matthew Payne, a British volunteer in conjunction with Ian James and Payne families of London have donated a computer and assorted books worth four million cedis to the Asante-Mampong Saint Monica's Junior secondary school.

Mr Payne, an English tutor, of the school who would leave the country after his service, said he was proud to have contributed to the improvement of teaching and learning in the school.

Mrs Johana Haizel, Headmistress of the school who received the books thanked the donors for the kind gesture She said the efforts of the British government in assisting people in the rural areas to improve their health and education conditions are appreciable.

Mrs Haizel said the school would cherish the contribution of Mr Payne. The British volunteer was presented with a kente cloth, native sandals and souvenir of the school as a farewell gesture.
