Body of white lady washes ashore New Town beach

Half Assini, (W/R) Oct. 16 GNA - The unidentified body of a white lady, suspected to have drowned in the sea near a beach resort in Cote D' Ivoire, has been washed ashore the New Town beach at the Ghana-Cote D' Ivoire border.

The Jomoro District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), John Ferguson Dzineku, who made this known to the Ghana News Agency, at Half Assini, said the body has been deposited at the mortuary of the Half Assini Government Hospital.

DSP Dzineku said at about 1050 hours on Oct, 6 this year, the Jomoro District Health Officer, Mr Raymond Serwah, informed the Police that a corpse that had been washed ashore at New town.

He said a team of police personnel were sent to remove the body, which was half naked and deteriorating.

The Police Commander said he suspected that the woman might have drowned in Cote d' Ivoire and, therefore, appealed to anybody who has lost a female relative to contact them for the necessary arrangement and subsequent release of the body.
