Blues grab Kotoko's Oti for 3 years

Striker Richard Oti joins Berekum Chelsea Striker Richard Oti joins Berekum Chelsea

Ghana Premier League side Berekum Chelsea have signed Asante Kotoko striker Richard Oti in a three-year deal.

The 21-year-old, who joined Kotoko from Medeama SC in 2014, failed to command a starting role because of the presence of Amed Toure and Dauda Mohammed as the club failed to defend the league title won back to back across three seasons.

Oti was among the five players Kotoko placed on transfer at the end of the season due to lack of playing time and has opted to join Berekum after coach Solomon Odwo promised him adequate playing time.

“It is true that Oti has joined us and we are happy because of his experience especially playing at a big club like Kotoko,” a representative of Berekum Chelsea told Goal.

“We want to sign other players to put the team in shape ahead of the new season. We hope to build on the position we achieved last season and it would surely depend on good signings,” he added.

Oti is expected to be unveiled by his new club next week alongside other players.

He played nine league matches for Kotoko last season, starting only one game and scoring two goals in the process, as the club placed second with 48 points, four below champions Ashantigold.
