Sunyani,(B/A) - Over eight billion cedis is being spent on the rehabilitation and upgrading of infrastructure in the Sunyani municipality under the government/world bank sponsored urban three programme. The infrastructure includes roads, drainage systems, markets, lorry parks and waste management projects. The Sunyani district chief executive, Mr. Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo who announced this at the first ordinary meeting of the fourth session of the assembly said work on the various projects has already begun. He said under the programme, the assembly would procure one bulldozer, two skip loaders, 21 open and closed containers and two cesspit emptiers to enable it solve its sanitation problems. On revenue generation, Mr. Nyamekye-Marfo regretted that as at April 30, the assembly had only collected 55.7 million cedis representing 14 per cent of the estimated revenue of 380.2 million cedis from its traditional source this year. He added that the total expenditure on both recurrent and development sectors yielded a surplus of over 36.2 million cedis over the same period.
