Bagbin Blasts Rawlings

The Minority Leader in Parliament, Alban Bagbin has described former President Rawlings’ assertion that he is not a fan of multi-party politics as a “most unfortunate political statement. So far, multi-party democracy is the best form of governance that has developed worldwide”, he said.

The Minority Leader who admitted that there were excesses in the erstwhile PNDC regime when Rawlings was Head of State described the period as “regrettable”. Bagbin however praised the former President as relevant to the National Democratic Congress (NDC). “Nobody can eliminate what he has done in the party and it is now history”.

He said whether Dr Kwesi Botchwey or Prof Evans John Atta Mills becomes the flagbearer of the NDC, Jerry John Rawlings could not be wished away from the party.
