BOLGA: Injured Policeman in coma after severe beatings during arrest

Corporal Lawrence Partey with the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MMTD) of the Ghana Police Service is currently in a coma after being subjected to severe beatings by traffic offenders within the Bolgatanga Municipality.

The policeman with service number 42136 was on official duties at SSNIT traffic intersection according to eyewitnesses’ account, when a group of men numbering three (3) obstructed him after he attempted to arrest a tricycle rider for picking four passengers considered as overloading.

MyNewsGh.com gathered as a result, one of the men assaulted the cop who fell down and became unconscious and was rushed to the regional hospital by some good samaritans.

This portal gathered that the cop who is believed to have also sustained various degrees of injuries and in critical condition is currently on admission at the emergency unit at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital.

A medical report of his current condition in part revealed to MyNewsGh.com states “Deep cut on his right cheek beneath his right eye and a laceration at the occipital region battling for his life with multiple stains of blood in his uniform”

Police investigators disclosed that the suspects are currently at large and efforts are underway to apprehend them in order to face the full rigours of the law.
