BNI & SFO probe SIC

ACCRA, July 30 -- The Bureau of National Investigation has started a full scale investigation into the affairs of the State Insurance Company Ltd. (SIC), Chronicle has learnt.

So far, the BNI has invited the former Managing Director (MD), Mr. Ebenezer Allotey, and his two deputies, Messrs E. C. de Graft and Francis Nsiah Afriyie.

They are to answer charges of corruption and explain allegations of mismanagement leveled against them during their term of administration, which attracted media scrutiny recently.

Also in the BNI net is Mr. Victor Kusi-Yeboah, the substantive Managing Director, who until last week was acting in that capacity in the nation's insurance flagship.

Kusi-Yeboah, according to Chronicle's sources, is being queried over an alleged BMW saloon car he received in a bribery scandal, which has been a subject of several Chronicle's stories. There have been other allegations of malfeasance against him.

Chronicle recently held a closed door meeting with Mr. Kusi-Yeboah, where he was cross-examined by the Publishers over the various allegations leveled against him, with Mr. Mark Ampadu, the head of Motor Department in attendance. Stay tuned for the details of the meeting.
