BAT gives 30 million cedis to education fund

British American Tobacco Ghana (BAT) on Monday presented a cheque for 20 million cedis to the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

Mr Kofi Selby, Director, Corporate and Regulatory Affairs, said the company has over the years helped the educational sector, especially the tertiary and senior secondary levels.

Seven companies have donated 190 million cedis to the fund, which was established this year by an Act of Parliament.

The Chairperson of the Trustees of the fund, Dr. Sylvia Boye, appealed to other organisations to contribute to it since "it is a laudable step by government to ensure that our children benefit in future".
