Ghana coach Avram Grant has scooped the Outstanding Achievement award as the Best Manager at the 2015 Best of Africa 2015 Awards Ceremony in London.

The former Chelsea boss was handed the award on Thursday during the event held in London with top African footballers and corporate executives in attendance.

The Israeli was handed the award for steering the unfancied Black Stars to reach the final of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations where they were only beaten on penalties by the star-studded Ivorian side.

Grant took over the Black Stars after their shambolic showing at the 2014 World Cup and with confidence low following the sacking of Kwesi Appiah he managed to turn the side around in breathtaking fashion.

He took over the Ghana national team just about one month before the tournament in Equatorial Guinea yet managed to whip the side into shape to reach the final.

Several players in the squad also got the chance to show their potential with stars in Daniel Amartey and striker Kwesi Appiah discovered under the new coach with Baba Rahman getting more playing time to impress.

Since then almost all the players in Grant’s starting line up have had the chance to make big moves including Asamoah Gyan and Andre Ayew.

The award in London will also hugely boost Grant’s chances of winning the African Coach of the Year by CAF.
