Atubiga welcomed home ‘with a bowl of fufu and light soup’

Back-from-prison member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communications team, Stephen Atubiga, was welcomed home on Thursday with “a bowl of light soup, fufu and goat meat,” a close pal has disclosed.

Ras Mubarak, who is also a member of the ruling party’s communications team, told TV3’s Nana Aba Anamoah on News 360 on Thursday that the “professional electrician and businessman” chose to be with his wife and children after his release though he has hatched plans of educating other party spokespersons on their language on radio and on television.

“He says life in prison is something else,” Mr Mubarak quoted Mr Atuguba as saying.

Mr Atubiga was summoned by the Supreme Court for some contemptuous comments he made on radio over the verdict of the Election Petition. He is said to have bluffed that the ruling party will not accept an overturn of the results of the 2012 elections.

He was jailed on Tuesday together with the Managing Editor of the Daily Searchlight, Kenneth Kuranchie, who was slapped with a 10-day sentence.
