Association Launches Environmental Sanitation Programme

Juaso (Ashanti Region), 13 Oct. The Ghana National Scholarships Beneficiaries Association (GNASBA) at the weekend launched its Environmental Sanitation Education (ESE) day at Juaso with a four-hour clean-up of nine towns in the Asante-Akim South district of the Ashanti Region. The Day also marked the fourth anniversary of the Association's involvement in the Environmental Sanitation Education Programme aimed at promoting good environmental and sanitary habits among students. More than 2,500 pupils and students from first and second cycle schools at Juaso, Yakwei, Bompata, Obogu, Asuboa, Asankare, Atwedie, Dampong and Nkwanta took pat in the exercise. It was sponsored by the Asante Akim South district Assembly, Fan Milk Limited and Trio Courage Limited. The National Chairman of the GNASBA, Mr Baffour Akwasi Oppong, said indiscipline is the cause of people's indifference to environmental bye-laws. He said the Association's main concern is to sustain the programme by helping the youth to understand the importance of basic sanitation.
