Assembly To Build 200 Million Cedi Market For Trabuom

Oyoko ( Region) 9 Dec., The Bosomtwe-Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly, in conjunction with the Agricultural Sector Investment Project (ASIP) is to construct a 200 million-cedi market at Trabuom. Mr.. I.K. Nyame, the district chief executive, who announced this, said the assembly has already voted 50 million cedis for the implementation of the project. Mr.. Nyame was addressing a durbar at Oyoko yesterday to mark the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District Celebration of the 13th Annual National Farmers Day. The project will comprise warehouses, storage facilities, and the installation of corn mills and oil extracting machines. Mr.. Nyame said to further help improve agricultural activity in the district, the assembly has decided to allocate 20 per cent of its common fund to support agricultural enterprises. The DCE appealed to chiefs and land owners to soften conditions for land acquisition to enable the youth to set up agricultural ventures. Mr.. K. Amoh, the District Director of Agriculture, said to help farmers to improve their activities, the ministry of agriculture has decentralised its work and has now posted directors to all the districts. The District best Farmer Award went to Mr.. Kwame Amanakwah of Kuntanase who took away a bicycle, half piece of wax print, a pair of Wellington Boots, A cutlass and a certificate. In all, 14 Farmers and Institutions were honoured.
