`Asare Original Pay All` almost lynched

But for the timely intervention of the Police, the Managing Director of the Asare Original Pay All Lotteries, Mr. Stephen K. Asare could have been lynched by his own workers yesterday.

The workers had held their Boss hostage saying he has refused to pay them for several months now.

The workers, holding placards, sticks and other metals chanted and sang war songs calling for the head of Mr. Stephen Asare; their Boss. It took the intervention of over seven armed Police personnel to save the situation and whisked Mr. Asare away from what would have otherwise been unfortunate situation.

The workers told a local newspaper -Accra Daily Mail - that for about eleven months, Mr. Stephen Asare has refused to pay them their salary arrears, ranging from ¢5 million to ¢10 million.

They also alleged that some of their colleagues are often fired without cause with no severance pay to the victims.

“He has not been paying us, so about six months ago we had a meeting with him, when he promised to pay in four months time. But this is the six months and management has not shown any concern. We never heard from him again. We met him again on Wednesday, and he said we should come the next day (yesterday), but even then he was complaining that we should give him another six months, but we refused…When he came this morning( yesterday), we asked him of our money, but he was reluctant, so we prevented him from going out…He then called the police, when they came they said they would shoot us, we then urged them on, because we know we were fighting for our rights and that of our dependants. They then guarded our Boss to his house”, a worker who gave his name only as Opoku, explained.

Another worker said that he is being owned 10million cedis, because since last year October he has not been paid.

When newsmen got to the house of Mr. Stephen Asare, the house was heavily guarded by heavily armed policemen and our news team was told “he can’t talk to you now. He says he has closed from work”.

ADM’s investigations at the office of Original Pay All shows that the company has about five hundred workers for the greater Accra sector.

The workers gave ultimatum to the management to settle them by Tuesday, or else, “it would be a do and die affairs with Mr. Asare”.
