The women were on board a 207 Benz Bus with registration number AS 1669 Q and driven by one Attah Kwasi.

They narrated that as their vehicle descended a bridge over river Fia, they saw the shadow of a human being with a flashlight ahead and realized the road had been blocked with pieces of wood. The women said as their driver stopped, about seven masked men surrounded the vehicle, while one wielding a gun stood at the doorway of the vehicle.

The women said the armed men then ordered all on board the vehicle to bring out all monies on them and to file out, while they searched their bodies, including their private parts for any money.
