Appolonia, the mixed-use urban development near Accra, has hosted the first in a series of discussions devoted to empowering the public with knowledge about real estate.

A statement issued by Appolonia and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra said the evening cocktail gave participants an opportunity to hear first-hand from leading real estate experts on property financing and urban planning.

The well-attended event, hosted at the Jaguar Land Rover showroom near Opeibea, featured presentations and interaction with Kojo Addo -Kufuor, Chief Operating Officer, Ghana Home Loans, and leading urban planning specialist; Dr Kwadwo Ohene Sarfo, together with the management and staff of Appolonia.

“I haven’t seen any real estate project as well executed as Appolonia,” said Addo-Kufuor.

"Providing this evening's platform, Appolonia is providing a great service to the real estate industry and to prospective investors.”

Holger Adam, Ghana Country Head for Rendeavour, Appolonia’s Developer, said: “We are pleased to present members of the public with an opportunity to educate themselves and make informed real estate decisions, which will ultimately lead to a wider understanding of the real estate market in Ghana and how it affects us all.”

The statement said the discussion sessions would be held regularly, with a number of other real estate experts already billed to speak.

According to the event attendees, the discussion series was a welcome development.

“I am impressed to see that Appolonia is setting itself apart in the market,” Alhaji Mustapha Garba, a participant stated.

“Most developers are too quick to push their product. I appreciate that Appolonia is giving us access to experts, so we can take informed decisions," he added.

Appolonia City is a 2,250-acre (941ha) mixed-use and mixed-income urban development in the Greater Accra Metropolitan area.

The project is being developed for residential properties, retail and other commercial centres, as well as schools, healthcare and other social infrastructure.

All local and national regulatory approvals have been met and a full land title certificate has been granted.

Infrastructure is being implemented, which includes water, electricity, tarred roads with storm water drains.

Residential sales are underway with the option of one purchasing a plot to build his or her own house in Nova Ridge or an existing house at the Oxford development.

Commercial developments currently include Ghana Home Loans and Total filing station with Golden Pride Schools constructing the area’s first private school.
