Anyinasu-Nyameadom road to be rehabilitated

Betiako (Ash), July 20, GNA - The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council is liaising with the Ghana Cocoa Board and the Department of Feeder Roads to repair the Anyinasu-Nyameadom road in the Ahafo-Ano North District. Dr Kwaku Agyemang-Mensah, Regional Minister, said the 12-kilometre road was of strategic economic importance - linking some farming communities in the area, including Amakrom, Betiako, Abonsuaso, Gyaakye-Nkwanta, Onyinase and Nyameadom.

The Regional Minister, who was speaking at separate durbars of the chiefs and people of Betiako and Subiriso, during a working visit to the district, said undoubtedly, the rehabilitation would bring tremendous relief to farmers and boost food production.

He was in the area to inspect on-going market and electrification project at Betiako.

Dr Agyemang-Mensah acknowledged the crucial role of farmers in national development, and said government would continue to repair feeder roads to facilitate the transportation of foodstuffs to market centres. He said government would also do everything to support farmers with incentives and expose them to modern farming practices. The Minister inaugurated a bungalow built for the Anyinasusu Health Assistant Training School by the District Assembly. Nana Kwame Kese, chief of Betiako, said the poor nature of roads in the area was affecting economic actives and also making it difficult for the sick to seek medical treatment at Tepa.

Nana Kwame Agyei, chief of Subiriso, asked government to expedite action on the connection of the community to the national electricity grid to enhance the living conditions of the people.
